Configure STP Management Console

Have the following information ready:

  • The password for the database user sa.
  • The name of the SQL Server instance being used.
  • The directory registered in SQL Server as the default location for database files.
  • Is there already an STP database?
  • The password for the database user STPUser
  • The password for the database user STPAdmin
  • The location of the license file.

Configure Management Console

If winsolvenz.p4 or winsolvenz.p4 is installed on the server, the Management Console and the STP database are already used by winsolvenz.

In this case, you only need to import a new license file if necessary.

If there is no Management Console on the server yet, the STP Management Console will be installed through the server setup. The creation of the STP database and the configuration of the Management Console occur during the first launch of the STP Management Console.

Follow these steps:

  • Open the STP Management Console by double-clicking the "STP Management Console" desktop shortcut on the Windows desktop.
  • The "Initialization - STP Management Console" window will open.

In the "Initialization - STP Management Console" window, you can choose between two options:

  • A. Create STP Database
  • B. Configure Database Connection

A. Create STP Database

If there is no STP database yet, it must be created first.

Follow these steps:

  1. Select the option Create STP Database.

  2. Click the OK button. The "Create STP Database - STP Management Console" window will open.

  3. Enter values in the input fields.

    • Server: Enter the name of the SQL Server instance. (e.g., MyServer\WZNET or MyServer)
    • SA User of SQL Server: sa
    • Password of SA User: Enter the password for the database user sa.
    • Database: Enter the name of the STP database. (e.g., STPDatabase)
    • Directory for Database Files: In this field, you can specify the directory where the SQL Server's database files are stored. The input field is only active after successfully testing the connection.
  4. Click the Test Connection button. The following message will be displayed:

STP Management Console

The connection to the SQL Server <Name of SQL Server Instance> was successfully established.

OK button

  1. Click the OK button. The Create Database button has been activated. The input field Directory for Database Files has been activated.

    Note
Specify a directory here if you want to use a different directory for storing the database files.

The field is pre-filled with the default directory C:\Program Files\Microsoft SQL Server\MSSQL.1\MSSQL\DATA.

Specify the directory that is registered in SQL Server as the default location for databases.

    Note
You can find the default location for databases in Microsoft SQL Server Management Studio.

    • Right-click to open the context menu of the SQL Server instance and select Properties.

    • In the "Server Properties" window, click the Database Settings button.

  2. Click the Create Database button. The database will be created. The following message will be displayed:

STP Management Console Note that you can only administer an empty database through the Administrator account (Menu Tools > Log In). OK button
  1. Click the OK button. The "Configure Connection to STP Database" window will open.

  2. Enter values in the input fields.

    • Server Name: Enter the name of the SQL Server instance. (e.g., MyServer\WZNET)

    • Database Name: Enter the name of the STP database. (e.g., STPDatabase)

    • Username: STPUser; No input is possible in this field.

    • Password: Enter the password for the database user STPUser.

  3. Click the OK button. The STP Management Console will open.

Note

When creating the license database STPDatabase through the Management Console, new, complex passwords that meet network policies for secure passwords are assigned to the database logins STPAdmin, STPSupport, and STPUser.

During a new server installation, you must distinguish between the database logins STPAdmin and STPUser and the STP-Documents users STPAdmin and STPUser and use the correct passwords for each.

If a license database STPDatabase already exists (e.g., due to an existing winsolvenz.p4 installation), the passwords for the database logins do not change.

B. Configure Database Connection

If an STP database already exists, the Management Console must be configured.

Follow these steps:

  1. Select the option Configure Database Connection.

  2. Click the OK button. The "STP Base: Configure Connection to STP Database" window will open.

  4. Click the OK button. The STP Management Console will open.

Import STP License File

License files have the file extension lic. A valid license file must be present in the file system. The user logged into Windows must have modify rights to the directory with the license file.

Note
Existing license information will be overwritten.

Note
To import an STP license file, follow these steps:

  1. Open the STP Management Console and log in as an administrator. Tip: The necessary steps are described in the section "Starting the STP Management Console" in this chapter.

  2. In the Administration Tasks area > STP Products > STP Base > License Manager, click on "License Management." The "License Management" window will appear.

  3. Click the Import License File button. A file browser will open.

  4. In the file browser, navigate to the directory with the license file and select the license file.

  5. Click the Open button. The "License Verification" window will appear.

  6. Verify the license for accuracy and then click the Import License button. The following message will appear:

STP Management Console The license file was successfully imported.

Button OK

  1. Click the OK button.

  2. The license has been imported. You can start the STP LEXolution.DMS Server service.
