The STP.Updater provides necessary patches and updates for selected STP client programs from a central location.
The setup installs the necessary server components for the STP.Updater on the server or another server. Start the executable file STP.UpdaterServer.Setup.exe. The setup installs the service UpdaterService. For configuration, use the TCP port number suggested by the installer whenever possible.
Default Configuration for the STP.Updater Server
Target Folder: C:\Program Files (x86)\STP AG\Administration\STP.Updater Server\
TCP Port Number: 8017
Path for the Product Repository: C:\ProgramData\STP AG\Updater\Repository\
Note
Ensure that your firewall does not block the ports used by the STP.Updater on the server and workstations. If you haven't changed the suggested settings, these are port 8017 on the server and port 8007 on the workstations.
Note
The display name of the installed service is STP.Updater Server.
The service name of the installed service is UpdaterService.
Running the STP.Updater Server Setup
The NET Framework 4.8 must be installed or activated on the computer.
To install the STP.Updater Server, follow these steps:

Start the executable file STP.UpdaterServer.Setup.exe.
The STP.Updater Server InstallShield Wizard will start.

Click the Next button.
The "Target Folder" window will open.

Click the Change button to select a different target folder. In the "Change Current Target Folder" window, you can select the desired target folder and create a new folder if needed. Click the Cancel button to return to the "Target Folder" window.
Click the OK button to accept the selected folder as the target folder.

In the "Target Folder" window, click the Next button to accept the suggested target folder.
The "Configuration" window will open.
Change the default TCP port number if needed.

Change the suggested path if needed. If the product repository should be set up on another server, enter a UNC path (\\<ServerName>\<ShareName>\<DirectoryPath>).
Click the Change button to select a different target folder. In the "Change Current Target Folder" window, you can select the desired target folder and create a new folder if needed.
Click the OK button to accept the selected folder as the target folder.
Click the Cancel button to return to the "Target Folder" window.
The window for configuring the TCP port number and path for the product repository will be displayed.

Click the Next button to accept the suggested target folder.
The "Ready to Install the Program" window will open.

Click the Cancel button to cancel the installation.
Click the Back button to change the server configuration.
Click the Install button to install the STP.Updater Server.

In the Windows User Account Control, click the Yes button to continue the installation.
The installation will proceed with the configured parameters.
The "Install Shield Wizard Completed" window will be displayed.

Click the Finish button to complete the installation.
The STP.Updater Server is installed, and the STP.Updater Server service has started. The STP.Updater Repository icon has been added to the server's public desktop.
Repository
The STP product repository is a directory structure where updates and patches for selected STP products are provided. If you did not specify a different directory or a UNC path to another server during setup, the files and subdirectories are located in the directory C:\ProgramData\STP AG\Updater\Repository\.
Note
The ProgramData folder is a hidden directory and is not displayed in Windows Explorer with the default settings.

Enable the option to show hidden files, folders, and drives or show all files and folders in the folder options, or use the %ProgramData% variable in Windows Explorer.
