Use with Remote Stations

Access by a user outside the central location can occur in two different ways:

  • Connection via a VPN network with a terminal server (recommended)

  • Direct connection via a VPN network (not recommended)

Access via VPN Network

Here, access from the remote location is achieved by extending the central LAN to include the VPN location.

VPN Networking with Terminal Server

In this setup, a workstation connects via remote desktop to the terminal server at the central location, which includes the standard DESK.

This is ideal for networking different locations or for access by office staff, for example, from a home office to the central location's LAN. Through VPN networking, generally, all other LAN services are available for remote access (e.g., email, file storage, intranet applications, business applications, etc.).

VPN Networking without Terminal Server

In this case, a workstation with the standard DESK installed connects via VPN to the LServer at the central location.
