Initial Situations:
- You have opened the standard DESK or the DMS Pro Client and opened a document from the document list in an MS Office application. - You have opened any MS Office file in an MS Office application via Windows Explorer.
Open Another Document from the MS Office Application
Go to the "File" tab in the ribbon and click on "Open" in the vertical navigation bar. The "Open" navigation bar will appear. Here, select the option "PRO LEXolution.DMS".
A control area for STP Documents will now be displayed. The image shows this view in MS Word.
Search Button in DMS
opens a search window for documents. In the Commander on the left, you can search for the document in various ways.
The search results are displayed in the document list on the right.
In MS-Office 64-bit versions, a document preview is displayed by default to the right of the document list. In MS-Office 32-bit versions, the document preview can be enabled in the personal settings, but it is strongly discouraged.
Above the document list is a full-text search field that allows you to search the results in the document list obtained through the Commander. Wildcards are possible.
Press [Enter] or Button (Magnifying Glass) to initiate the search after entering. Use the Button X to clear the input from the field.
Show All File Types
- "disabled": Default setting: Only documents that can be opened and edited in the MS application are displayed in the document list to the right of the Commander.
- "enabled": Documents of all file types are displayed in the document list, if available. If you had opened the search window from MS Word, you could now see, for example, PDF documents and Excel spreadsheets in the list.
Button Check Out for Editing
The document is checked out for editing and opened. The document data and commands are then available.
Button Open for Reading
The document is opened for reading.
Button Cancel
The search window is closed again.
Button My Favorites
opens the search window for documents (see above). The Commander on the left automatically switches to the tab for searching automatic and manual favorites.
The targeted documents are displayed on the right in the document list.
Here, too, the checkbox Show All File Types and the Buttons Check Out for Editing, Open for Reading, and Cancel are available.
Below the two buttons, the most recently opened documents are displayed; first those with file associations, then those without.
The displayed documents can be opened with DMS monitoring by double-clicking.
