Install Standard DESK on Workstation

Starting the Standard DESK Setup

The setup installs the necessary client components for the Standard DESK. Run the executable file STP LEXolution.DMS Client Setup.exe and follow the instructions of the installation program.

Note
If .NET Framework 4.8 is not installed before the reinstallation, the computer will restart during the update after the .NET Framework is installed as a prerequisite.

The installation of the STP.Updater Client is a prerequisite for the Standard DESK.

If the STP.Updater Client is not yet installed, the setup for the Standard DESK will start the installation of the STP.Updater Client.

If .NET Framework 4.8 is not installed before the reinstallation of the STP.Updater Client, the computer will restart during the update after the .NET Framework is installed as a prerequisite. The setup will abort if the operating system does not allow the installation of .NET Framework 4.8. In this case, you must enable .NET Framework 4.8 as a feature of the operating system and then run the executable file STP LEXolution.DMS Client Setup.exe again.

Necessary Data for Server Installation

Whenever possible, use the values suggested by the installation program for configuration. However, always use the computer name instead of localhost.

  • LSB Hostname: Name of the server where the RabbitMQ service is running.
  • LSB Port: 5672
  • RabbitMQ User: stpuser
  • RabbitMQ Password: stp.

How to Install the Standard DESK

Note
Installing STP Documents requires logging into Windows as a local administrator. On operating systems from Windows Vista or Windows Server 2008 onwards, you can also start the setup as a user without administrator rights using the "Run as administrator" option. You will need the username and password of an administrator.

Enable or install .NET Framework 4.8 if necessary before installing the server.

The RabbitMQ service must be installed and configured.

If needed, the STP.Updater Client will be installed before running the Standard DESK setup. On a workstation, do not check the box Installation on a terminal server.

To install the Standard DESK, follow these steps:

  1. Run the executable file STP LEXolution.DMS Client Setup.exe. The "LEXolution.DMS Client - InstallShield Wizard" window will open.

Whenever possible, accept the suggested parameters LSB Port, RabbitMQ User, and RabbitMQ Password. Click the Next button to accept the configured parameters. The "Ready to Install the Program" window will be displayed.

  5. Click the Install button. The Standard DESK will be installed and configured. The "InstallShield Wizard Completed" window will be displayed.

  6. Click the Finish button.

The Standard DESK is installed, and after logging in as STPAdmin, the Standard DESK will start.

    Note
The Standard DESK is precompiled to speed up the application's startup. Ngen.exe is started in a command prompt.

The missing dependencies are due to the products being delivered with the DLLs needed for functionality. However, NGen goes through all dependencies and therefore encounters referenced DLLs (or their dependencies) that are not used by DMS. This causes the "FileNotFoundException".

Errors during precompilation do not lead to different behavior or errors in the program. It is not as fast on the first start or when opening dialogs as when used precompiled.

  7. Open the office settings.

Create users and groups and assign the necessary roles to the groups.

    Configure the connection to winsolvenz.p4.

    Configure the Exchange connection.

    Configure the Document Collector.

    Exit the Standard DESK.

The users configured in the user and group management can log into the Standard DESK.
