Here, you can independently configure the number ranges for File Number Ranges, Storage Number Ranges, and Invoice Number Ranges.
You can freely choose the formats and decide whether you want a separate count per location or a firm-wide count.
Abbreviation
You can assign an abbreviation.
Designation
You need to designate the number range here.
Type
Here, you select the type of number range. You can choose between File Number, Storage Number, and Invoice Number.
Location
Here, you can assign the number range to a location.
If you add a location here and activate "Is Default" below, the file number range will automatically be preset with the location when creating a new file.
If you do not want a separate number count per location, please do not enter a location here.
Start Value / Continuous Counter
You can configure the starting number for counting files, storage, or invoices recorded in Lexolution.
By selecting "Continuous Counter," you determine whether the counter for the number range continues to increment over the year change, e.g., 1342/2016 on 1/1/2016.
If, for example, you do not want to use a continuous counter for your invoice number range, it is necessary to include the year in the number, as your numbers would otherwise not be unique after the year changes.
Format
You must determine the format of the number range. Please place the number and the year in the desired position.
Placeholders can be connected with special characters. The description of the notation is located to the right of the format input field. In the "Preview" field, you can see how your number will appear in the system according to your format.
Two-Digit Year
If you check this box, the year will be displayed with 2 digits instead of 4.
Number of Digits / Leading Zeros
Here, you can specify how many digits your number should have and whether the zeros should be leading or trailing.

Is Default
In this field, you determine whether the number per location or per firm should be the default for the respective number type. The default is automatically preset, for example, when creating a new file, making it easier for you to enter.
Active / Used
The number ranges can be set to active using the Allow button. If certain number ranges should no longer be available for selection in the system, they must be set to inactive using the Block button.
The Used selection informs you whether the number range has already been used somewhere in Lexolution.
