Smart Fields

What are Smart Fields?

Smart Fields are placeholders you can insert into your Word documents that will be automatically filled with data when the document is processed. They work like variables that get populated with information such as names, dates, or other details from your data source.

How to Use Smart Fields

Step 1: Navigate to Smart Fields

  1. On the tools page, click “Add smart fields.”
  2. You’ll see a list of all available smart field data sources.

Step 2: Find Your Field

  1. Open your desired data source panel by clicking on it, then browse the list of its available fields.
  2. Use the search box to find specific fields quickly (searches by field name).

Step 3: Insert the Field

  1. Place your cursor where you want the field, or select text in your document to replace with the field.
  2. Click on the Smart Field you want to insert.
  3. The field appears in your document as a content control {field_name}.

The Smart Field is now in your document and will be filled with data when the document is processed.
