STP.Documents.OnPremise
The foundation is the document management system STP.Documents.OnPremise. All documents, tasks, and favorites are stored exclusively here. STP.Documents.OnPremise is installed on the law firm’s server. System requirements are:
- at least STP.Documents.OnPremise 7.5 FP1
- On-premises STP UserManagement is connected to the Cloud Tenant
Agent
To connect STP.Documents.OnPremise with the cloud, the STP.Documents On-premise Agent connects on one side to STP.Documents.OnPremise via its API, and on the other side to the STP.Documents service in the STP Cloud. Requests from the cloud are received by the agent, decrypted, and forwarded to the DMS. The response from the DMS is then encrypted again and returned to the cloud. The agent is installed alongside STP.Documents.OnPremise on the law firm’s server.
STP Cloud
The STP Cloud enhances STP’s on-premises solutions with new features that would not work in an isolated on-premises environment. The STP.Documents service is one such feature. It routes requests and responses between the agent in the law firm’s on-premises environment and the STP.Documents.OnPremise Mobile DESK on users’ mobile devices. The actual data is therefore not permanently stored in the cloud, but only passes through for transmission—and not in plain text. Since the agent and STP.Documents.OnPremise Mobile DESK always encrypt requests and responses end-to-end, no one in the cloud can read them. The service is hosted by STP in the cloud, so no additional VPN is required.
STP.Documents.OnPremise Mobile DESK (App)
STP.Documents.OnPremise Mobile DESK is a Progressive Web App (PWA) that accesses the STP.Documents.OnPremise system in the law firm’s on-premises environment via the STP Cloud. All requests are encrypted for the agent and its responses are decrypted again. Thanks to PWA technology, STP.Documents.OnPremise Mobile DESK runs on all devices with a modern web browser. This includes not only all smartphones such as iPhone, Android, etc., but also all desktop systems.
