Repairing an STP Common Services Update

If you are unable to start the programs after updating the STP Common Services, this is usually due to an incomplete or unsuccessful update of the STP Common Services.

How can you tell?

• Not all steps in the installation guide (Link) were followed or could be completed successfully
• The RabbitMQ service is no longer present on the server
• The web console at http://localhost:15672 is no longer accessible in your browser

• There are multiple entries for different versions of RabbitMQ, ErlangOTP, or STP Common Services listed under installed programs on the server

  

To restore functionality, you can fix this as follows:

1. The file “epmd.exe” should not be running at this time (if it is, refer to the installation guide above at the section “Uninstall the old RabbitMq version”)
2. Rename the “LEXolution Service Bus” folder located at C:\ProgramData\STP AG\
3. Uninstall all installed versions of
   • RabbitMQ Server
   • Erlang OTP
   • STP.Common.Services
4. Delete the following folders under “C:\Program Files”
   • Folders starting with “erl-xxx” (“xxx” stands for the version number)
   • Folders starting with “Erlang”
   • RabbitMQ Server
5. Check the home drive (see the installation guide above, section “Install the new RabbitMq”)

You have now prepared the system for a clean reinstallation of the STP Common Services.

Install the STP Common Services setup according to the installation guide, section “Install the new RabbitMq.”

After completing the installation of the STP Common Services, the programs and clients will be able to connect to the LEXolution Service Bus and communicate with each other again.

After the update, restart any services you previously stopped, or restart the server and workstations once more.
