Email

With the ComCenter, you can create your own Email mailbox.

Requirements

Permission & License

To use Email with ComCenter, your user needs to have the comcenter.channel.email role. The tenant needs to have the comcenter.module.email license module or comcenter.email license.

General Information

The email channel utilizes OAuth 2.0 for secure authentication. To connect, you must use an account belonging to your organization’s Microsoft 365 Tenant. Your administrator has already pre-authorized this application, so no additional administrative consent is required. When you save, update, or click “reconnect,” a Microsoft login window will appear. Please enter your credentials in this window; once the process is complete, the window will close automatically and display a success or failure message. To ensure security, the email address provided in the “Address” field will be validated against your credentials to confirm that you have the necessary permissions to access that specific mailbox.

Troubleshooting Common Issues: Popup Blocked: If the login window does not appear, check your browser settings to ensure popups are allowed for this site.

Initial Setup

During the creation of a Email channel, Microsoft 365 Tenant is stored as address and also for OAuth 2.0 login credentials. The new channel is shared for all available organization’s Microsoft 365 Tenant users. It can be seen, used and managed by any other user.

Channel Setup

This chapter describes the basic usage from the end user’s perspective.

Create Email channel identity

Users can create and manage their Email channels via the Channel Management section in the ComCenter.
Each channel is stored encrypted and is only visible to the user who created it.

Email Setup
  1. Open the ComCenter user interface.
  2. Navigate to Channel Management.
  3. Click Add Channel.
  4. Select Email type.
  5. Add a Name for the channel.
  6. Add a Channel address of the channel.
  7. Click Save.
  8. Microsoft OAuth 2.0 appears where users can enter Microsoft 365 Tenant associated address and password connected to the Channel address.
→ If all credentials are correct and pre-authorized users are set - connection is successfully established. → If credentials are incorrect or not pre-authorized - connection can not be established and system will prompt the users to try again.

Channel status

The status of a channel indicates whether the setup and authentication were successful.
It helps users quickly see if the channel can be used for sending and receiving messages. The current status is shown in the Channel Management Overview.

Status Meaning
Complete All fields are populated correctly. The channel can be used for sending and receiving messages.
Incomplete Fields are missing or invalid. The channel cannot send or receive messages and is not visible in the Messaging view.
Not checked Initial setup of fields are missing or invalid and has not been verified yet, or the setup is not finalized.
Visibility of Email Channels

Each Email channel is stored as shared.

Session handling
  • When sending or receiving messages, ComCenter automatically establishes a Microsoft session in the background.
  • The session remains active as long as it is valid and needed for communication.
  • If the session expires (default is 365 days without any traffic) user might need to reconnect manually to Microsoft 365 Tenant.
