To install LEXolution on a server or workstation, the following prerequisites must be met: - .NET Framework 4.8 is installed.
If a suitable .NET Framework is not present on the computer, the setup will install the appropriate .NET Framework before installing LEXolution. - WCF communication between the LEXolution client and server takes place via TCP; the TLS version used for communication is determined by the operating system. Setting the TLS version for TCP can only be done at the operating system level, for example via group policies, security policies, or the registry. LEXolution supports TLS version 1.2. - Microsoft Office 2016, Microsoft Office 2019, Microsoft Office 2021, Microsoft Office 2024, or Office 365 (Word on workstations and terminal servers) is installed and configured. - Microsoft SQL Server 2019 / 2022 or Microsoft SQL Server 2025 is installed on the database server. - The LEXolution delivery database is set up on the database server. - The LEXolution reporting database is set up on the database server. - The STP.Updater client is installed on the workstations.

Please have the following information ready: - the name of the server on which the STP LEXolution Server service will be installed. - the TCP port number used by the STP LEXolution Server Windows service on the LEXolution server.
If you did not specify otherwise during setup, port 8000 is used. - the name of the server (or servers) hosting the two LEXolution databases, the names of the databases, and the username and password of the database user. - the name of the server on which the STP.Updater Server service is installed. - the TCP port number used by the STP.Updater Server Windows service on the STP.Updater server.
If you did not specify otherwise during setup, port 8017 is used.

Please configure the check frequency of the STP.Updater client.

Make sure your firewall does not block the ports used by LEXolution on the server and on the workstations.

Make sure your firewall does not block the ports used by the database on the server.

When the STP.Updater client starts, it automatically checks for available updates.
Based on the option configured in the updater, the STP.Updater client will automatically notify you of available updates at set intervals.
If updates are found, you will receive a notification.
You can choose to apply the update or cancel.
At the next check, you will be notified again about the available update.

If no STP.Updater client is present on the computer, the setup will install the appropriate STP.Updater client before installing the LEXolution client or LEXolution Word Add-In.

Make sure you have access to all relevant installation files. To do this, you will need access to the STP GmbH download directory.
